How to have the perfect Sunday Reset

“Act as if it was, and it will be.” – Lailah Gifty Akita

From school to jobs the week can bring a lot.  Hence, it is important to have one day in the week when you can just relax and reset. That’s why I have made the perfect Sunday reset for you to use to get a fresh start to every week.

Why it is important

A Sunday reset has many benefits for your health and well-being:

·         It allows you to have a day to yourself where you can unwind and take a break from your week

·         Having a Sunday reset allows you to start your week on a good note which also boosts your productivity.

·         It allows you to start off your week in a controlled manner which helps lower your stress levels.

The Perfect Sunday Reset

Take the day one step at a time

It is so important not to rush to get things done. Doing so leaves you with even more stress than you had before, so take time to relax, rewind, and listen to what you need.

Limit your screentime and find alternatives

A Sunday reset is all about having a fresh start to your week but if you’re like me the start of a day begins with spending time on my phone before I’m fully ready to wake up. However, instead of doing this, you should aim to do some form of exercise. Whether this means working out if you haven’t all week or something as simple as taking a walk. Resisting the temptation to aimlessly scroll starts off your day on a positive note and increases the likelihood of you being more productive throughout the week.

Plan out your day/week

I recommend buying a planner or a journal so that you can implement this not only on your Sundays but every day. Writing a to-do list or what you are trying to accomplish during the day helps you remember and, also, motivates you to complete them. During this time, you can also plan out your week by writing things such as meal prep, important days, homework, etc.

De-clutter your space

You cannot have a fresh start to your week without a clean room. It is ok if during the week your room gets messy or your desk is not cleaned up but you should take these Sundays to clean and tidy up your room. Picking up your clothes, making sure your bed is made, vacuuming the floors, and doing your laundry are quick and simple tasks that can leave you feeling more accomplished at the end of the day.

Drinking plenty of water

Water is vital to your wellbeing and neglecting it will cause harm to your body. Studies show that on average you need to drink around 11.5 cups (2.7 liters) a day for women and around 15.5 cups (3.7 liters) a day for men so making sure you implement this habit into your day-to-day activities is extremely beneficial.

Listen to what you need

This can be different for everyone. Look back on what you ate the past week and allow yourself to eat what your body needs, whether it is ordering in if you ate homemade meals the past week, or making something healthy if your choices of food weren’t as nutritional.

Final Words

While this Sunday reset might appeal to many, for some people this might be too much or too little. Different people have different needs so this can be changed to your liking. A reset is made to help you feel more comfortable and accomplished so whether this means switching a Sunday reset to a monthly reset it’s up to you to do whatever you like.
